Itinerary

Day 1TO THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN- WHITE STUPA

Start your journey by experiencing the vastness and emptiness of Mongolia as you drive to Mandalgobi, a small town and the capital of the Middle Gobi province. Upon reaching Mandalgobi, have lunch in a local restaurant for your first taste of Mongolian meals.

After that, head to “White Stupa”, one of the amazing natural formation in Gobi desert.

Once a floor of the ocean, the largest colorful limestone formation offers a treat to the eyes. The various earth tones represent different eras, offering a glimpse into the past when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The site may even resemble the ruins of an ancient city or stupa from a distance. Take a light walk down the hill, capturing pictures of this unique landscape that stretches over 400 meters.

In the evening, engage in traditional games for a touch of local culture and entertainment.

Day 2 To the Valley- Yol Vulture Valley

TO THE VALLEY!

As mentioned before, Gobi is not a normal desert, it has big mountain range and high valley. On the way to discovering these valleys, we’ll make a stop in Dalanzadgad city and visit the South Gobi Museum to learn more about the area.

After lunch, we’ll arrive at Yol Valley, where an ancient river carved a surprisingly green valley in the middle of a hot desert. When temperature outside the valley is over 30 degrees, it will just over 10 degrees offering contrast. Yol Valley is located in Gurvansaikhan National Park, showcasing diverse flora and fauna. The canyon concludes with remnants of ice that persist even in the summer. A hike through the valley reveals the habitat of indigenous wildlife like Lammergeiers, yaks, and Argali mountain sheep, wild goats and even small habitats like marmot.

As the evening unfolds, return to the camp and let the allure of the Gobi Desert captivate you during an overnight stay.

As you leave the valley, enjoy a traditional dress-up session to flood your social media page with cultural perfect-picture.

Day 3To the Mongolia's biggest sand dune- Khongor sand dune

“TO THE SINGING DUNE!

A 150 km drive takes you to the famous sand dunes of the Gobi desert- Khongor Sand Dune. The sand dunes, 180 km long, 20km wide, located between steppes and mountains, appears suddenly. The impressive dunes are bordered by lush green vegetation and a small river named ‘Khongor.’

Feel the exhilaration of camel riding on the soft, golden sands of the dunes, creating unforgettable moments in the heart of the Gobi. Reaching the top of the dune is highly recommended for those who would like to treat their eyes with an amazing view. The sunset is breathtaking and rewards those who manage to reach the top.

Experience a beautiful evening in a local camp, surrounded by entirely different surroundings than the ones you encountered yesterday.

Day 4TO THE HOME OF DINOSAURS- FLAMMING CLIFFS

A morning drive will take you to the Havtsgait Valley, a site adorned with ancient rock drawings left by early Gobi settlers over 5,000-7,000 years ago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the mountaintop where hundreds of petroglyphs grace scattered rocks, telling the story of a bygone era and enjoy the panoramic view from the top.

Explore the mystical beauty of Flaming Cliffs (Bayan Zag), a terrain that transports you to a different realm, with its silent orange glow and famous dinosaur fossil discoveries. Enjoy a documentary featuring Roy Chapman Andrews, whose expedition discovered the world’s first dinosaur eggs at the Gobi’s Flaming Cliffs, before driving out to the cliffs.

As the night unfolds, indulge in the enchanting experience of stargazing, marvelling at the moon’s red brilliance and the captivating night sky. Immerse yourself in the Gobi’s magical sunsets and sunrise, leaving an indelible mark on your heart.

Day 5TO THE NOMADS - EXPERIENCE REAL NOMADIC LIFE

Explore the lush landscapes of Mongolia on a captivating journey blending history and tradition. Begin at Ongi Monastery, one of Mongolia’s largest Buddhist complexes. Notice the landscape gradually changing from a desert-like area to a green expanse.

Afterward, dive into the nomadic way of life. Uncover the soul of the Gobi Desert with a visit to a Gobi Nomadic Family, offering you a firsthand glimpse into their traditional lifestyle and hospitality. Join a local family, engage in heartwarming conversations, and try your hand at milking cows and goats. Don’t miss the chance to brew your own vodka—a unique and personal souvenir.

Day 6THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

Embark on a journey through the vast 121,967-ha Orkhon Valley- UNESCO world heritage, a stretch of pastureland on both sides of the Orkhon River with archaeological wonders dating back to the 6th century. Our first stop is the small town of Hujirt for a lunch.

After a lunch, delve deeper into the Orkhon Valley. Our initial destination is the “Bend of Uurt,” nestled at the foothills of the Khangai Mountains. Here, you’ll enjoy a splendid view of the river, trees, and the surrounding area.

Following that, we’ll visit the Ulaan Tsutgalaan falls, where a white cascade on black stones transforms into a rainbow with a brief sunray. These 16-meter (52.49 feet) falls are pure magic, shaped 20,000 years ago by a unique combination of earthquakes and volcano eruptions. Take a hike down to the falls, walk around the river, and immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere.

As the day concludes, find serenity in the official central part of Mongolia, a lush green contrast to the Gobi Desert and the southern parts of Mongolia you’ve explored. It promises a refreshing and peaceful night in the heart of Mongolia’s natural beauty.

 

Day 7 There is no place like Mongolia for horse riding

It is a day dedicated to the unparalleled joy of horse riding, an activity deeply woven into the fabric of Mongolian culture. With the saying, “Mongolians are nations born on horseback,” experience the essence of this heritage.

Start your day at a leisurely pace, building up the excitement for a horse riding adventure in the Orkhon Valley. The extensive horse riding session, spanning almost half a day, offers a profound sense of freedom, a connection to nature, and a bond with these remarkable animals.

Arrive around lunchtime and take a rest at a camp or stroll through the serene beauty of the surroundings. As evening unfolds, gather around the campfire, engaging in warm conversations and enjoying the company of hospitable Mongolians. It’s a day filled with the simple joys of horsemanship, nature, and shared moments by the fire.

Day 8TO THE OLD CAPITAL!

Star your a journey to Kharkhorin city, surrounded by the breathtaking vistas of the Mongolian green steppes. Situated in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Orkhon Valley, Kharkhorin served as the capital of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century, marking the zenith of the world’s largest empire. Continue your cultural exploration with a visit to the ancient Erdenezuu Monastery, one of the biggest Buddhist centers in Mongolia, boasting walls built using the ancient capital’s wall and rich history embedded within.

After a lunch, head to Elsen Tasarkhai, an expansive sand dune stretching over 80 km, located 200 km from Ulaanbaatar. Experience the diverse nature of Elsen Tasarkhai, often referred to as Mini Gobi, where sand dunes, high mountain hills, rivers, and grassland converge. Further explore the area with a leisurely hike amidst the sand dunes, a stroll through lush green grass, or playful moments by the river.

Day 9Back to city life!

Returning to City Life!

Bid farewell to the nomadic lifestyle, newfound friends, endless steppes, and untouched wilderness. After a final breakfast in the nomadic setting, savor your time until you reach Ulaanbaatar.

Upon arriving in Ulaanbaatar, have a farewell lunch at a Mongolian restaurant which serves authentic Mongolian meals, accompanied by a traditional performance. Let the captivating displays of Mongolian traditional arts and music bring a delightful close to your journey.
